How licenzio researches casinos and licences

Every licenzio guide starts from the record the licence issuer publishes, then reads the casino’s own terms on a stated date. Statuses are printed exactly as issued, complete records come first, then records with a gap, alphabetical inside each group, and nothing is scored. The site carries no affiliate links and receives no payment from the brands it lists.

Our casino research methodology

Documents only: registers, certificate pages, terms, statutes and dated notices.

Documentary research only

licenzio reads documents and does not run casino accounts. A fact enters a guide only when a document states it: a regulator’s register or notice, a certificate page, a casino’s terms or help page, or a statute. Reviews and comparison sites written by affiliates are never a source. Where a document cannot be found, the guide leaves the fact out and treats the gap as uncertainty, not as wrongdoing.

How we check a casino licence

Five steps, always in this order, so the issuer’s record decides before any casino page does.

  1. Find the issuer’s record

Open the register or certificate page of the authority that issued the licence, not the badge in the casino’s footer.

  2. Match the domain

Confirm that the casino’s website is the domain the issuer lists for that licence.

  3. Copy the record as printed

Company, licence number, licence type and status, in the issuer’s own words and dated.

  4. Read the casino’s terms

Check the operator named in the terms against the licensee, and note the date the terms were read.

  5. Compare and flag differences

If the issuer and the casino disagree, the page says so plainly and the issuer’s record leads.

Company, operating domain and licensed activity

Which record we read for each jurisdiction.

IssuerRecord we readWhat it gives us
Curaçao Gaming AuthorityOnline gaming licence register dated 20 October 2026, with the certificate page at cert.cga.cwThe certificate page proves the domain. The register gives company, number, B2C or B2B, dates and status.
Malta Gaming AuthorityLicensee register and the URL CheckerLicensee, licence and the websites the authority lists for it.
GibraltarThe published list of licenseesLicensee name and licence reference.
AnjouanThe authority’s published registerLicensee and the expiry date. Every row prints “valid”, so we show the expiry date instead.
Gambling CommissionPublic register of businessesWhether a company holds a Great Britain licence, its account number and its listed domains.

Current records and conflicting information

A status is the issuer’s word, not ours.

Registers use their own words: “Indefinite”, “Assessment in progress”, “valid”, “Active”. We print them unchanged and never relabel one as lapsed or valid. If two records disagree, for example a register row and a certificate page, both are shown with their dates. The Curaçao licence check walks through the same steps for one casino at a time.

How we assess UK account eligibility

A licence from another jurisdiction is not Gambling Commission authorisation.

The Gambling Commission states that a licence issued in another country does not permit an operator to provide gambling to consumers in Great Britain (see its operating licences guide). licenzio therefore checks two separate things. For Malta and Gibraltar brands it records the company that holds the UK accounts and its Gambling Commission account number. For any other brand it says nothing about whether UK players are served, except where a casino’s own terms exclude the United Kingdom, in which case the clause number and wording are quoted. Northern Ireland has different law from Great Britain, and guides say where that matters.

How we compare bonuses, games and payments

Only what the casino’s own terms state, with the date they were read.

Significant bonus conditions

Where a guide mentions an offer, the conditions sit beside it: amount and currency, qualifying deposit, wagering multiplier and what it applies to, deadline, maximum bet, excluded games and any cash-out cap. A figure without those terms is not published. For brands holding a Great Britain licence, wagering cannot exceed 10 times the bonus amount from 19 January 2026 under the Commission’s licence condition 5.1.1.

Withdrawal stages, fees and limits

Withdrawal times are split into the casino’s processing time and the payment method’s transfer time. Fees, minimums and limits are quoted from the terms or cashier pages, and each carries the source. If a casino does not publish a figure, the table leaves the cell empty.

How comparison order is decided

Complete records first, then records with a gap. The order is not a ranking.

Editorial criteria

A brand is listed when it is recognisable and has a primary record: the issuer’s entry and the casino’s own terms. Complete records come first, then records with a gap, such as a domain with no certificate found, and the brands are alphabetical inside each group. licenzio gives no scores, stars, ratings or numbered rankings, and invents no scoring system.

Paid placement and commercial relationships

There is none. No brand pays licenzio and no link on the site earns a commission, so payment cannot move a brand up, in or out of a table.

How guides are updated and corrected

The date on a page changes only when the page really changes.

Each guide shows one “Updated” date. It moves when facts are re-read or corrected, never for a cosmetic edit. To report a mistake, email contact@licenzio.co.uk with the page and the official source. The full correction process is in the editorial policy.
